Built for travellers who want to stay active on holiday, this 6-day, 5-night tour is loaded with hands-on excursions: snorkelling around Prison Island and Mnemba Atoll, a trek through Jozani Forest, a working spice farm, and a full day of water activities on the east coast at Paje.
The pace is faster than our classic itineraries, with something to do most days rather than long stretches of downtime — a good fit for travellers who’d rather be in the water or on the trail than by the pool. Airport transfers, accommodation and an English-speaking guide are included throughout.
Your hotel in Stone Town, Zanzibar (Google Map) — airport transfers from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) included
Pickup between 8:00–9:00 AM on Day 1 (exact time confirmed after booking)
Expect to be busy: snorkelling around Prison Island on day two, a spice farm and forest trek on day three, kite-surfing country and water activities at Paje on day four, and a full day at Mnemba Atoll — one of East Africa’s best snorkel and dive sites — before finishing on the beach at Nungwi.
This itinerary suits travellers who want to come back from Zanzibar with a few new skills and some genuinely great snorkelling stories, not just a tan.
Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), where our driver-guide will meet you for a transfer to your hotel in Stone Town. Spend the afternoon exploring the old town’s alleyways and markets on foot before dinner. Overnight in Stone Town.
Head out by boat to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet its resident giant Aldabra tortoises, then spend the rest of the day snorkelling around the nearby reefs and the Nakupenda Sandbank, with a freshly grilled seafood lunch served right on the sand. Overnight in Stone Town.
Trek through Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park in search of the rare red colobus monkey, then visit a working spice farm to see, smell and taste the cloves, vanilla and cinnamon grown across the island. Transfer to the east coast in the afternoon. Overnight in Paje.
Spend the day in Paje’s kite-surfing hub, with the option to try a beginner lesson, paddleboard the Blue Lagoon at low tide, or simply swim and explore the huge tidal flats the area is known for. Overnight in Paje.
Set off by boat for a full day snorkelling at Mnemba Atoll, one of East Africa’s best sites, with vibrant coral reefs and the chance to swim alongside dolphins. In the afternoon, transfer to Nungwi on the island’s northern tip. Overnight in Nungwi.
Enjoy a final morning on Nungwi’s beach — a swim, an optional watersport, or one last walk along the shore — before your driver-guide transfers you back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your departure flight.
