This full-day tour pairs two of Stone Town’s best-loved boat excursions: a visit to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet its giant Aldabra tortoises, and an afternoon at the Nakupenda Sandbank, a sliver of pure white sand that appears and disappears with the tide, surrounded by clear turquoise water.
Boat transfers, snorkelling gear and a fresh seafood lunch on the sandbank are all included, along with hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island.
Hotel pickup anywhere in Zanzibar — Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje or elsewhere — included
Pickup between 8:00–8:30 AM, return to your hotel by approximately 4:30 PM
Expect a relaxed, water-based day: a short boat ride out to Prison Island to meet its resident giant tortoises and swim off the island’s small beach, followed by a longer boat trip to the Nakupenda Sandbank for swimming, snorkelling and a freshly grilled seafood lunch served right on the sand.
Because the sandbank only appears at certain tide levels, timings can shift slightly day to day — your guide will confirm the exact schedule the evening before.
Your driver collects you from your hotel anywhere on the island and transfers you to the harbour in Stone Town.
A short boat ride crosses to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet its resident giant Aldabra tortoises and swim off the island’s small beach.
Board the boat again for the crossing to the Nakupenda Sandbank, a strip of pure white sand surrounded by clear, shallow water.
Free time to swim and snorkel over the nearby reef, using the gear provided on board.
A freshly grilled seafood lunch served right on the sandbank, followed by fresh tropical fruit.
Sail back to Stone Town and transfer back to your hotel to close out the day.
