This half-day tour heads to Kizimkazi on Zanzibar’s southern coast, a traditional fishing village and one of the best places in East Africa to spot wild bottlenose and spinner dolphins in their natural habitat. A local boat crew takes you out at the time of day dolphins are most active, with snorkelling afterward for those who’d like to swim.
Boat excursion, snorkelling gear and hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island are all included.
Hotel pickup anywhere in Zanzibar — Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje or elsewhere — included
Early morning session: pickup 6:00–6:30 AM (best dolphin activity). Return by approximately 11:00 AM.
Expect an early start — dolphins are most active in the cooler morning hours — followed by a boat trip out from Kizimkazi with a local crew experienced at spotting pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins. Sightings are common but never guaranteed, since these are wild animals in open water; when conditions allow, you can slip into the water to snorkel near them.
This tour respects responsible-viewing guidelines around the dolphins, prioritising their space over guaranteed close encounters.
An early pickup from your hotel anywhere on the island for the drive south to Kizimkazi, timed for the best dolphin activity.
Board a local fishing boat and head out from Kizimkazi in search of wild bottlenose and spinner dolphins.
Time to watch the dolphins from the boat, with the option to snorkel nearby when conditions and the pod’s behaviour allow.
Sail back to Kizimkazi and transfer back to your hotel to close out the morning.
