Get behind the wheel of a two-seat jet car (dune buggy) and follow your guide along a mix of sandy beach tracks, coconut-palm backroads and open bush trail on the island’s northeast coast. It’s an easy, no-license-needed way to see a rougher, more rural side of Zanzibar than most beach holidays cover, with regular stops for photos and to stretch your legs.
Buggies seat two and come with a guide leading the convoy throughout. Hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island are included.
Hotel pickup anywhere in Zanzibar — Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje or elsewhere — included
Morning and afternoon sessions available, each around 3 hours door-to-door
Expect an easy-to-drive automatic buggy, a short practice loop before you set off, and a route that mixes packed sand, palm-shaded backroads and the odd open field — nothing technical, but enough bumps to keep it fun. Your guide leads the convoy at a manageable pace with regular stops to regroup, take photos and swap drivers if you’re sharing a buggy.
No driving license or off-road experience is required; an automatic transmission and a slow-speed practice run cover everything first-timers need.
Your driver collects you from your hotel anywhere on the island and transfers you to the buggy base at Pwani Mchangani.
A safety briefing and short practice loop cover the controls before you set off in convoy.
Follow your guide along sandy tracks, coconut-palm backroads and open bush trail, with stops for photos along the way.
A short break with fresh fruit and water before heading back to base.
Your driver transfers you back to your hotel to close out the morning.
