For travellers with two weeks to spare, this is the deepest possible look at Zanzibar: from the coral-stone alleyways of Stone Town, through the spice farms and forests of the central island, to the kite-surfing village of Paje, the sandbanks of Safari Blue, and the postcard beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa in the north.
This isn’t a highlights reel — it’s a proper exploration, with time built in to slow down, choose your own activities on a free day, and actually settle into island life rather than rushing between sights. Airport transfers, accommodation and an English-speaking guide are included throughout.

Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), where our driver-guide will meet you for a transfer to your hotel in Stone Town. Settle in and enjoy an easy first evening exploring the streets around your hotel before dinner. Overnight in Stone Town.
Spend the day exploring Stone Town’s UNESCO World Heritage old town in depth: the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, the Anglican Cathedral built on the site of the former slave market, and the narrow alleyways lined with carved Zanzibari doors. In the evening, sample local Zanzibari food at Forodhani Gardens. Overnight in Stone Town.
Take a boat to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet its resident giant Aldabra tortoises, then continue to the Nakupenda Sandbank for swimming, snorkelling and a freshly grilled seafood lunch on the sand. Return to Stone Town for the evening. Overnight in Stone Town.
Head inland to a working spice farm to see, smell and taste the cloves, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg that shaped the island’s history, then visit a nearby village to see day-to-day rural life away from the tourist coast. Overnight in central Zanzibar.
Visit Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park in search of the rare red colobus monkey, found nowhere else on earth, followed by a local cultural activity — a cooking demonstration or a visit to a community project — arranged with your guide. Overnight in central Zanzibar.
Travel to Paje on the east coast, known for its huge tidal flats and laid-back kite-surfing scene. Check in to your beachfront hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the ocean. Overnight in Paje.
A full day to enjoy Paje at your own pace: swim at the Blue Lagoon’s calm, shallow waters, walk the beach at low tide, or try an optional kite-surfing lesson. Overnight in Paje.
Drive up the coast to Michamvi for an afternoon at The Rock, Zanzibar’s famous restaurant perched on its own islet just offshore, followed by a relaxed sunset. Return to Paje for the evening. Overnight in Paje.
Transfer to Fumba on the southwest coast for a full-day Safari Blue excursion: sail by traditional dhow to snorkel over coral reefs, visit a mangrove forest, and stop at a sandbank for a barbecue seafood lunch straight from the boat. Overnight near Fumba.
A quieter day to enjoy the Fumba lagoon area — a swim, a walk along the shore, or simply time to rest after the previous day’s excursion — before transferring north later in the day. Overnight en route to Nungwi.
Continue north to Nungwi, home to some of the whitest sand and clearest water in Zanzibar. Check in to your beachfront hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing by the ocean. Overnight in Nungwi.
Spend the day between Nungwi and neighbouring Kendwa beach, with an optional snorkelling excursion to Mnemba Atoll available for those who want to get in the water. Watch the sunset from one of Kendwa’s beach bars in the evening. Overnight in Nungwi.
A full free day to spend however you like: an optional dive or snorkelling trip, a spa treatment, more time on the beach, souvenir shopping in Nungwi’s craft stalls, or a photography walk around the fishing village. Overnight in Nungwi.
Enjoy a final morning on the beach before your driver-guide transfers you back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your onward flight, bringing your 14-day discovery of Zanzibar to a close.
