Board a traditional wooden dhow as the afternoon heat fades and sail quietly along the coast while the sky turns orange and pink over the Indian Ocean. It’s an easy, low-key way to close out a day — no snorkelling gear needed, just a comfortable seat on deck, a cold drink in hand and the sound of the sail overhead.
Light snacks and drinks are served on board, and the route is timed to have you out on the water for sunset itself. Hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island are included.
Hotel pickup anywhere in Zanzibar — Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje or elsewhere — included
Departs around 4:00–5:00 PM depending on the season’s sunset time, returning after dark
Expect an unhurried sail rather than a fixed itinerary — the dhow’s captain reads the wind and tide to time your position for the best sunset view, with stretches of quiet sailing broken up by snacks, drinks and conversation on deck. It suits couples, families and groups equally well, and works nicely as a calmer alternative to a full day on the water.
Seating is on cushioned deck benches; swimming isn’t part of the standard route but the crew can stop briefly on request in calm conditions.
Your driver collects you from your hotel anywhere on the island and transfers you to the harbour.
