This full-day tour strings together three of Zanzibar’s signature experiences into a single, easy-to-follow day: a fragrant working spice farm, a boat trip out to Prison Island to meet its giant tortoises, and a guided walk through Stone Town’s UNESCO-listed old town. It’s the tour we recommend most often to guests who only have one day to spare but still want a genuine feel for the island’s history and flavours.
A driver-guide is with you throughout, transport between stops is included, and the day finishes with a spiced Zanzibari lunch. Hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island are included.

Expect a well-paced single day with a clear rhythm: a fragrant morning at the spice farm learning how cloves, vanilla and cinnamon are grown and harvested, a mid-morning boat ride to Prison Island to meet its resident giant Aldabra tortoises and swim off the island’s small beach, then an afternoon walking Stone Town’s coral-stone alleyways before your driver returns you to your hotel.
It’s a comfortable amount of ground to cover without feeling rushed, and it works well both as a stand-alone day and as an add-on to a beach-based holiday elsewhere on the island.
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel anywhere on the island and heads toward the spice farm on the outskirts of Stone Town.
Walk through a working spice farm to see, smell and taste cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper growing in the ground, with a fresh fruit tasting included along the way.
A short boat ride crosses to Prison Island (Changuu), originally built as a quarantine station and now home to a colony of giant Aldabra tortoises. Time to meet the tortoises and swim off the island’s small beach.
Enjoy a spiced Zanzibari lunch back on the mainland before continuing into Stone Town.
A guided walk through Stone Town’s UNESCO World Heritage old town — the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the narrow alleyways lined with carved Zanzibari doors.
Your driver-guide transfers you back to your hotel, bringing your full day of Zanzibar highlights to a close.
