This is Zanzibar done the classic way: a week that moves at an easy pace between the island’s must-see sights, starting in Stone Town, taking in Prison Island, a spice farm and Jozani Forest, then finishing with beach time at Paje, Nungwi and Kendwa. It’s a well-rounded itinerary built for travellers who want to see a bit of everything without feeling rushed.
Guided sightseeing in the mornings and free time in the afternoons keep the pace comfortable throughout, with airport transfers, accommodation and an English-speaking guide included from start to finish.

Pickup between 8:00–9:00 AM on Day 1 (exact time confirmed after booking)
Expect a comfortable mix of culture, history and beach time: guided mornings through Stone Town’s old town and spice farms, a boat day around Prison Island, then long stretches of free time to enjoy the Blue Lagoon at Paje and the white sand of Nungwi and Kendwa.
This itinerary is designed as a well-rounded, general-purpose introduction to the island — a solid pick for travellers who want the classics covered without a specific theme.
Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), where our driver-guide will meet you for a transfer to your hotel in Stone Town. Spend the afternoon settling in, then in the evening head down to Forodhani Gardens to sample Zanzibari street food along the waterfront as the sun sets. Overnight in Stone Town.
This morning, explore Stone Town’s UNESCO World Heritage old town: the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the narrow alleyways lined with carved Zanzibari doors. In the afternoon, take a short boat ride to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet its resident giant Aldabra tortoises and enjoy some time swimming off the island’s beach. Overnight in Stone Town.
Visit a working spice farm outside town to see, smell and taste the cloves, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg that shaped Zanzibar’s history, then continue to Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park for a gentle walk in search of the rare red colobus monkey. Overnight in Stone Town.
Check out and head across the island to Paje on the east coast, famous for its huge tidal flats and kite-surfing scene. Spend the afternoon at the calm, shallow waters of the Blue Lagoon before relaxing at your beachfront hotel for the evening. Overnight in Paje.
A free day at leisure in Paje, with an optional boat excursion available to Mnemba Atoll, one of East Africa’s best snorkel sites, home to vibrant coral reefs and the chance to swim alongside dolphins. Otherwise, enjoy the beach, try a kite-surfing lesson, or simply relax. Overnight in Paje.
Travel north to Nungwi and Kendwa, home to some of the whitest sand and clearest water in Zanzibar. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the ocean, then watch the sunset from one of the beach bars along Kendwa’s shoreline. Overnight in Nungwi.
Enjoy a last morning on the beach before your driver-guide transfers you back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your onward flight, bringing your classic 7-day Zanzibar journey to a close.
